The Curse of Linoxim
A points of light campaign set in a tweaked version of the implied Core setting. This will be a combat focused campaign but of course RP elements will be plentiful.
The initial series of events focus on the Freelands of Last spear, a nation of military savvy, patriots who have fallen on hard times since the death of their last great king 100 years ago to an ancient curse. Since then, beasts and goblin hordes alike have beset upon the kingdom from every angle, forcing them into a war of attrition that cannot be won.
Their allies are beset with their own internal struggles, and the once friendly nations of elves and dwarves have turned their backs on humanity, after their own leaders were killed by the same dark curse for befriending the nations of man.
Now, brave warriors, devout priests and cunning mages travel from across the globe to these lands – perhaps to make their fortune as mercenaries or raiding the now vacant lairs of the lands sorcerers, or maybe to avenge the deaths of loved ones slain by the goblin hordes or maybe to simply gain power and seize the struggling nation for themselves!
The Curse of Linoxim Comments
So I did a little digging at rules after our session, and there were two things not quite right. One is, I’m pretty sure now that weapon enhancement bonuses are added to secondary attacks that have the Weapon keyword (by default, its keywords are the same as the primary’s).
The other is, I noticed crossbows have a Reload Minor requirement, but I don’t remember Rowan taking that step. Is there something about the crossbow that makes it different?
I’ll get some more detailed info up about Girard tonight.
I added my character as a PC under the characters tab. Open to any feedback. I know theres one or two mechanical issues I’ve got to fix but I’ll get that done tonight and re-post.
Rowan Heartwood is pretty short for a human and looks a little bulky with his regular robes and Pocket covered overalls over his bulky hide armor. On his arm is a device made of a dark metal with panels that will open if pressed correctly but are very difficult to spot without knowing where they are. Mechanically he has wrist razors but cinematically a blade shoots out of the TTOHA (Thaumaturgically tuned off-hand analyzer, That Thing On His Arm).
His crossbow is a little larger than the average and there aren’t many surfaces on it that are completely smooth. Any flat edges that are on its sides are covered in tiny shifting runes that go in and out of focus. It has various wires made metals with different arcane properties and vacuum tubes and gears sticking out the side. On the bottom of the crossbow there is a grip that opens to allow the resistive mixture and restorative infusion to be loaded.
He’s out here because after the curse many pretty well equipped heroes died leaving behind lots of mysterious magic items and no one knows what they do. There is very potent magics out there that are sitting unused and untapped. They might fall into the wrong hands so they might as well fall into his.
He is fascinated with his new acquaintances magical items and armor and really wants to examine and possible enhance what he can but he does understand that adventurers usually have a deep attachment to their weapons and most don’t even take off their armor to sleep so he’ll probably have to wait.
